Because otherwise, I’d have to go look at it.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
It’s not worth $3,200. But, they aren’t too far off. I’d give $2,500 for it all day if it isn’t rotted under those ground effects. First-gen Js are hard to find and Z24s are even rarer.
These things didn’t weigh much at all, so they are pretty fun with the V6. My friend had one back when I first got my license and he let me drive it. It was way quicker than I expected. His had some weight reduction (rust), though.
And, peep that outside temperature gauge and digital dash. High tech for a 1986 Cavalier.

Shoot for a second I thought this was super close to me, but then I realized it’s in Seven Valleys PA, not Seven Fields PA. We also have a Seven Springs.

These were pretty good cars. Decent engine and a 5 speed transmission. Certainly on par with the Honda’s and Toyota’s of the day. If GM had stepped up again with the next generation like the Japanese did, they could have given them a race. Instead GM decided their cars were good enough.

Typical GM.

On these, it always seemed like the way they rusted was either horribly or not at all, e.g., if the floors go, they're taking the sills with them, so if the shiny side looks fine, more than likely the underside is, too. Maybe it's just confirmation bias, the rusty ones I'm familiar with were all really obviously rusty.

Not related to the car but I grew up in western PA and one of my life goals is to buy a condo on the slopes Seven Springs when I retire.

Sounds like the start to an old Country (not Western and certainly not Country Western) song about 7 sisters and 7 brothers settling down in Seven Valleys with Seven Fields fed by Seven Springs.

The last 3 winters have not been kind to Seven Springs so I haven’t been snowboarding in a long time but I love it up there in the summer.

Small world! I wasn’t expecting to see Seven Valleys mentioned here- it’s not far from where I currently live.

I have never really WANTED to go to Pennsylvania, but I suddenly find myself wanting to. That red interior.

I wonder if we have another four “Seven Somethings” to make it a perfect 7 for 7

Its where I learned to ski but I spent a lot of time there in the summer/fall as well - my dad belonged a professional society that had their annual PA chapter meetings there. Its a great place year-round.

My favorite thing about this page is the random shit that people get excited about that I then get sucked into when I never would have looked twice otherwise. You guys are a blessing.

Yep, it’s like they do one decent project and then they can take the next 20 years off. They showed great profits until they ran out of product and customers.

Thanks! That’s the first time my obsession with old crap cars has been called a “blessing.”

I was always dumbstruck that Chevy put a V6 in such a tiny car.

When I was in high school, I knew a kid with one of these - IIRC it was blue and silver. Not even a very old car yet, but already kind of rare even then.
If not rotten, for $2500 it would be NP all day, much of that for the dash alone.

Agreed! The randomness is astounding and wonderful.

North & West Philly are like outdoor auto museums for old cars that have disappeared everywhere else in the Northeast.
